What is a Parts of Speech?
The parts of speech in the English language determine the various functions of different words used in a sentence.
The function of the word differs depending on the place in the sentence.
There are eight parts of speech in the English language.
Noun
Pronoun
Verb
Adjective
Adverb
Conjunction
Preposition
Interjection
1. Noun
The noun is the first part of speech that recognizes a person, thing, place, or idea.
examples; Robert, Men, Basketball, Computer, Dog, Paris, Asia, etc.
Examples of Noun in sentence
1. Robert is a kind person.
2. I play basketball every Sunday.
3, The next Monday is a public holiday.
4. My father works in a school as a teacher.
5. The sun rises in the east.
6. Dogs are very faithful animals.
7.The ball smashed through the window.
8. English is the first language that I learned when I was a baby.
9. Joseph is one of the best dancers in this academy.
10.A baby boy is playing on the couch.
Definition of Common and Proper Nouns
Proper nouns refer to a specific person, place, or thing and are always capitalized. Common nouns refer to a general concept or thing and are only capitalized at the beginning of a sentence.
Common nouns refer to a name of any person, place, thing, or idea. They are not capitalized unless they come at the beginning of a sentence.
How To Spot a Common Noun and a Proper Noun
A common noun answers the question "What is it?"
A proper noun answers the question "What's its name?"
Q: What is it? A: It is a bridge.
(The word "bridge" is a common noun.)
Q: What's its name? A: It is London Bridge.
(The name "London Bridge" is a proper noun.)

2. Pronoun
A pronoun is just a replacement or a substitute for the noun in a sentence. It can be a personal pronoun, dependent pronoun, relative pronoun, or reflexive pronoun.
examples; he, she, it, they, you, etc.
Examples of pronoun are in sentences
They both are good basketball players.
You have to come to my birthday party.
She is writing a letter to her mother.
He has beaten chess easily.

What is the use of I and you?
I a subject pronoun, and the subject is the person or thing doing the action as in "I went to the store." Me is an object pronoun, and the object is the person or thing the action happens to as in "Alex liked me." Use you and I when it is the subject of the sentence; use you and me when it is the object of the sentence.
Find the words that are pronouns in each sentence. Each sentence has at least one pronoun. Some have more than one. Choose all that apply.
1. My son dropped his bottle on the ground.
2. The girls standing under the tree are eating their lunch.
3. When I looked over at him, I noticed that he was reading a book.
4. The guys ate all of their pizzas.

3. Verb
A verb is a part of speech used in a sentence to express any action and existing reality.
The verb is classified into two parts, One is the main verb, and the other is a helping (auxiliary) verb.
Verbs can be changed accordingly by the tense of the sentence.
Examples of verb in sentences
1. He is begging to save her mother’s life in front of the doctor.
Here, “begging” is the main verb that represents action, and “is” is the helping verb.
2. Michael is writing a novel about wildlife heritage.
3. She is smiling in front of the audience.
4. Adjective
An adjective is a part of speech, used in a sentence that describes more about a noun or a pronoun. To identify any individual person or a particular object.
Some articles like (a, an, the)are also called as adjectives.
It may be present single or multiple in a sentence that presents before a noun or a pronoun.
Examples of adjectives in sentences
1.The dolphin is a very intelligent fish than all fishes.
2. Diamond is the hardest material.
3. The gorgeous lady coming towards us.
4. Seedan is one of the bravest men in his battalion.
5. Adverb
An adverb expresses more about a verb, adjective, or another adverb in a sentence. Certainly, the adverb ends by -ly.
Examples of adverbs in sentences
1. Tortoise walks very slowly.
2. John finishes his homework quickly.
3. She speaks sweetly with the dignitaries.
4. The maths teacher fastly completes the syllabus
6. Conjunction
A conjunction is a part of speech used to connect two or more than two different words, sentences, phrases, or clauses. It also shows the connection between those two sentences, which are related to each other.
example; and, or, not, but, so, for, while, because, etc.
Also, a conjunction can be used as correlative conjunction by including two conjunctions together.
example; not only.. but also, either… or, neither.. or, etc.
Examples of conjunction in sentences
1. Robin and Jenny are both good at trekking.
2. Their parents may be decided to go out for lunch or dinner.
3. He is not only good at singing but also good at acting.

7. Preposition
A preposition is a word that represents the relationship between the noun and the rest part in a sentence and always comes before the noun or a pronoun to complete.
Combining a noun or a pronoun with a group of words to complete a sentence or a phrase is called a preposition.
example; until, of, in, at, under, about, etc.
Examples of prepositions in sentences
1. The books are stored in the bookshelf.
2. We are about to reach our destination.
3. The battle will continue until one dies.
4. Your coffee is at the table.
8. Interjection
An interjection is a word used in a sentence to express a strong feeling, emotion, or excitement.
Sometimes a noun or an adjective can also function as an interjection. It does not show any relation with the rest of the sentence.
example; Alas!, Hurrah!, Great!, Damn!, Oh!, Congratulations!, etc.
Examples of Interjections in sentences
1. Hoorah! We won the match.
2. Congratulations! You have a baby girl.
3. Oh! We lost him.
4. Yeah! I got her number.
